I made these simple bentos for the kids co-op lunches today. No fancy cutting or decorating involved. Mostly just store bought, color coordinated elements:)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z1hcwe0cHyY/UnBt91W59oI/AAAAAAAABE0/OUTOmJMrl2Y/s1600/IMG_6168.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z1hcwe0cHyY/UnBt91W59oI/AAAAAAAABE0/OUTOmJMrl2Y/s400/IMG_6168.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I put this lunch in the kids "Lunchblox" from Rubbermaid. So even though this looks like a lot of food (and it is more than I usually pack), it's really just aLOT of containers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-duy2GoPYEVU/UnBvL9cbwdI/AAAAAAAABFc/ZBbDPKTM9Qo/s1600/IMG_6170.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-duy2GoPYEVU/UnBvL9cbwdI/AAAAAAAABFc/ZBbDPKTM9Qo/s320/IMG_6170.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The bulk of this lunch was some fun pumpkin shaped ravioli that I found at Sams club. I cooked the pasta "al dente" the night before and included a small dipper of sauce. And while I personally thing that the kids could eat this just fine cold (HELLO!! Pizza lunchables anyone!?!) our co-op does provide a microwave. So I had the kids warm the whole thing for 30 seconds.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ICqlvBsSxuc/UnBvMZpyiJI/AAAAAAAABFs/8BL6q3rfTJI/s1600/IMG_6171.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ICqlvBsSxuc/UnBvMZpyiJI/AAAAAAAABFs/8BL6q3rfTJI/s320/IMG_6171.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
I packed a clementine (cause who doesn't think they look like little pumpkins?) and some baby carrots with a punkin pick in the medium size container.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xLeJPVZIZlc/UnBvMtvadnI/AAAAAAAABFw/9hikSIbSWkM/s1600/IMG_6169.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xLeJPVZIZlc/UnBvMtvadnI/AAAAAAAABFw/9hikSIbSWkM/s320/IMG_6169.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
In one of the small containers I put some vanilla yogurt garnished with fall sprinkles, and the other held pumpkin seeds and a pumpkin shaped york peppermint patty candy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K3P2GVfohn0/UnBuA1fNUsI/AAAAAAAABFQ/K98BDSF4I7s/s1600/IMG_6175.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-K3P2GVfohn0/UnBuA1fNUsI/AAAAAAAABFQ/K98BDSF4I7s/s320/IMG_6175.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my daughters set of "blox" all stacked up and ready to be packed in her lunchbag:) I also included a juice smoothie box that is pictured in the first photo.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there you go, another easy bento for your arsenal;) BTW, my kids ate almost all of this! There were a few carrots and pumpkin seeds left. But I think they really enjoyed the change up of the ravioli.</div>
<br />Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-37696733944151634172013-10-26T22:09:00.001-04:002013-10-26T22:09:45.912-04:00Deployment Care Package: The "Living Dead without You" versionI am SO excited to be sharing this care package with you!!! Not because it's the best theme, or even has the greatest things in it. Mostly because it may be the LAST care package I have to send! That's right, rumor has it that my Hubby may be coming home early! 3 months early!!! We will officially be one of those Army families that other Army families are jealous of;)<div>
Anywhoo enough about me. Here's what you really want to see:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iusx4e8cOyU/UmxxaPA1J8I/AAAAAAAABCg/Vwjpetm2ATE/s1600/IMG_6044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iusx4e8cOyU/UmxxaPA1J8I/AAAAAAAABCg/Vwjpetm2ATE/s400/IMG_6044.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So even though we don't do Halloween in this house, I thought it would be fun for Steve to receive a "scary" box this month. And for some reason I kinda like Zombies:/ I haven't looked to deep into this, so I am not really sure why...Maybe it started when I was pregnant and my kids hooked me on Plants VS Zombies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyway I started with my usual. A box decorated accordingly. I had the kids make "bloody" hand prints and we glued them to the box flaps. I put the saying "Without you we are like the living dead" on the final flap.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NaLGF7uXEhc/UmxxZihzBGI/AAAAAAAABCc/YD9EmzdluJU/s1600/IMG_6034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NaLGF7uXEhc/UmxxZihzBGI/AAAAAAAABCc/YD9EmzdluJU/s400/IMG_6034.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I filled it with theme appropriate goodies. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First up the Entertainment stuff:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The newest zombie movie "World War Z", and oldie/cheap zombie movie "Rise of the Zombies" and a Zombie slaying game for his DS.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jZzfhYa41a8/UmxxNI1aG3I/AAAAAAAABB0/d6sidZzIZwA/s1600/IMG_6036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jZzfhYa41a8/UmxxNI1aG3I/AAAAAAAABB0/d6sidZzIZwA/s400/IMG_6036.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I put in some goofy/ stress relieving stuff:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
An tiny "Adopt a Zombie kit", some squishy Nerf zombie bombs, and a "Grow a Zombie"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2PC9eXbWmZM/UmxxMtu2oRI/AAAAAAAABBs/XcUGVi_dpYQ/s1600/IMG_6037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2PC9eXbWmZM/UmxxMtu2oRI/AAAAAAAABBs/XcUGVi_dpYQ/s400/IMG_6037.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I added the Gross parts:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Some edible sour string "brains" and a creepy zombie mask</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-NFVIm8xYs/UmxxP7BT7nI/AAAAAAAABCE/pJN2bgYUTHs/s1600/IMG_6038.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o-NFVIm8xYs/UmxxP7BT7nI/AAAAAAAABCE/pJN2bgYUTHs/s400/IMG_6038.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Whats a care package without Food!?! :</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So I stuck in some Gummies and a thing of "Zombie Food"</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NAK35Xyefuo/UmxxRGJc57I/AAAAAAAABCQ/sQE69NGSFjo/s1600/IMG_6041.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NAK35Xyefuo/UmxxRGJc57I/AAAAAAAABCQ/sQE69NGSFjo/s400/IMG_6041.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Finally I put in some fun games:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Zombie Bowling, Zombie Dice & some Zombie playing Cards.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PZWuc2H7w0Q/UmxxRcVwdPI/AAAAAAAABCM/4zQYkXAbaZw/s1600/IMG_6043.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PZWuc2H7w0Q/UmxxRcVwdPI/AAAAAAAABCM/4zQYkXAbaZw/s400/IMG_6043.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Personally I hope he brings the Zombie Bowling home with him. I would love to knock a few Zombie pins down:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was the first box that I attempted to embellish. You can see that I crisscrossed some "Zombie Outbreak" Tape that I picked up at the Dollar Store across the top of the box. I am hoping when he opens the box it will look the same...we shall see:/</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iusx4e8cOyU/UmxxaPA1J8I/AAAAAAAABCg/Vwjpetm2ATE/s1600/IMG_6044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iusx4e8cOyU/UmxxaPA1J8I/AAAAAAAABCg/Vwjpetm2ATE/s400/IMG_6044.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So this box was fun even if it was kinda gross;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>

I sent these this week for their lunch at homeschool co-op. They were super easy. And I thought I better get them up before the end of the month:P<br />
<br />
These were suppose to be "Bat" themed.But that might be a stretch... We don't really do Halloween, however there are some aspects we can't resist. And when my kids found bat shaped brownies at the store, I said yes. Bats are not inherently evil;) Not to mention once we got them home and opened them, they actually more resemble butterflies:/<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZUk2KG5LA8E/UmhahIyyujI/AAAAAAAABBM/_JpHzlBveDk/s1600/IMG_6031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZUk2KG5LA8E/UmhahIyyujI/AAAAAAAABBM/_JpHzlBveDk/s320/IMG_6031.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had small ham sandwich on a Kings Hawaiian Roll, embellished with a fruit strip Bat cutout and some pringles in the left compartment. The middle compartment had some olives, and smaller container with some yogurt raisins and a Bat pick. The far right had a juice smoothie box and the bat/butterfly brownie. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UTdzRMMF_XU/UmhalNzHhJI/AAAAAAAABBU/Ta-MBnVE3Co/s1600/IMG_6033.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UTdzRMMF_XU/UmhalNzHhJI/AAAAAAAABBU/Ta-MBnVE3Co/s320/IMG_6033.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is actually how I fit the brownie in with the juice box:) See how much that goofy thing looks like a butterfly even from this angle!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I packed this in our Rubbermaid Lunchblox boxes and was a little bummed, cause once the kids got to co-op their sandwiches were soggy:( Evidently even though I drained the olives, the little bit of liquid left seeped into the other compartment. Guess from now on I will only pack dry things in the multi-compartment version of this box. We have another version and it contains individual containers that stack together, so that may be better for wet things....Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-66570370679143718322013-09-28T00:43:00.000-04:002013-09-28T00:43:56.545-04:00Bento-Quick and Easy, a Confession, and a ResolutionSo I have decided to go back to posting what seems fun to me. For about the last year I was trying to "impress" all my non-existent readers with things I found to be popular. Or I was just using my blog as a baby diary;) But I am valiantly going to try and post more often, and of things that come naturally to me and that make me happy. These are the post I like to come back and look at and read, since I seem to be my blogs' own "biggest fan".<br />
<br />
I do LOVE making fun lunches for my kiddos. Since we homeschool I only pull out the lunchboxes once a week for co-op. But honestly I look forward to this part of co-op a TON;)<br />
Here was this weeks little Bento Box style lunch. My son had requested that I make "less" lunch, evidently I usually get carried away and pack to much food! So this was my attempt at packing a smaller lunch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V1WBZm2GYr0/UkZbsmr3_DI/AAAAAAAABAg/6tQcdM69ENE/s1600/IMG_5256.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-V1WBZm2GYr0/UkZbsmr3_DI/AAAAAAAABAg/6tQcdM69ENE/s320/IMG_5256.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This little lunch contained: 3 rolled up slices of Buffalo Chicken deli meat, a stack of cheddar shaped stars, a tiny container of trail mix, a row of wheat thins crackers, a small handful of grapes, and to separate the grapes from the crackers I wedged a mini candy bar in between them:)</div>
I apologize that the coloring of this pic stinks:/ I make the lunches the night before, and there is no good lighting for photography in this house at night! I also may or may not have been lazy and snapped this pic with my IPhone...<br />
My son deemed this lunch a success both in taste and size, so I may be using this little lunch container more often!Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-65493202117312623472013-09-06T15:50:00.002-04:002013-09-06T15:50:49.962-04:00Deployment Care Package: The "Sweetest Comeback" Version (Hostess Snacks!)<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had the best inspiration for a care package for my Honey when Hostess brought back out some of its products in July! Right there on the package it claimed "The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever.".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ntczv5VsdoE/UiotZrxRMaI/AAAAAAAAA_o/F_BpPN29nAw/s1600/IMG_4981.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ntczv5VsdoE/UiotZrxRMaI/AAAAAAAAA_o/F_BpPN29nAw/s320/IMG_4981.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And I thought how cute that phrase would be to use on a care package. Plus Steve's a junk food junkie. He literally searched our little town for weeks hoping for one last Twinkie when they went out last year! So I knew a Hostess Snack Box would be very well received.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the basics of my box:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VLoemvm8PCk/UiouP0AnoZI/AAAAAAAAA_w/1BrB3tG2Xmo/s1600/IMG_4976.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VLoemvm8PCk/UiouP0AnoZI/AAAAAAAAA_w/1BrB3tG2Xmo/s320/IMG_4976.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The most important element: The snacks! Originally I had planned not to put any chocolate in due to melting issues, but then I decided to chance it. I figure he may appreciate a melted HoHo more than most people;)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lOHX_JMDM-U/Uiovzq9BqeI/AAAAAAAAA_8/4q7d1lIruas/s1600/IMG_4979.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lOHX_JMDM-U/Uiovzq9BqeI/AAAAAAAAA_8/4q7d1lIruas/s320/IMG_4979.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Box: I put some cute Hostess colored scrapbook paper on the flaps. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I attached this saying " Hostess Got it Wrong... When you "Comeback" That will be the "Sweetest"!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qRMAWCPdRnU/UiowN2fxHJI/AAAAAAAABAE/P7i_u2oB1kg/s1600/IMG_4980.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qRMAWCPdRnU/UiowN2fxHJI/AAAAAAAABAE/P7i_u2oB1kg/s320/IMG_4980.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Extras: The snacks filled the box up most of the way. So I only had room for a couple extra things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I threw in his latest GameInformer and a pic of our little sweetie pie munching on one of his fruit pies:)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rsi8yfiWEz0/UiowvdZRyII/AAAAAAAABAM/Fosx0ELXhDw/s1600/IMG_4983.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rsi8yfiWEz0/UiowvdZRyII/AAAAAAAABAM/Fosx0ELXhDw/s320/IMG_4983.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was my finished box. All it needed was to be taped up and have the customs form filled out:) </div>

Most of you that read this know that Steve deployed to Afghanistan in February. Since he left I have already mailed him an Easter Care Package. However I have several theme care packages in mind. This is the first of them. I am sure it won't be his favorite box ever, but I had fun putting it together. I call it the "Spring Clean" box.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started with a medium flat rate box, and jazzed it up a tiny bit with of Scrapbook paper and a little quote/song lyric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8NEss0GrJ6g/UXmh6PtUygI/AAAAAAAAA8w/IGPEkEDUnOc/s1600/IMG_2893.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8NEss0GrJ6g/UXmh6PtUygI/AAAAAAAAA8w/IGPEkEDUnOc/s400/IMG_2893.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_862397570"></span><span id="goog_862397571"></span>Then I added the cleaning elements. Some dish soap (double wrapped!) for the occasional travel mug washing, a sponge & disposable cleaning rags, Magic erasers, pre-moistened dusting wipes that are safe for electronics, a fuzzy duster, and of course multi-purpose wipes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O_i5-JfNHFs/UXmiMrNz44I/AAAAAAAAA84/CsIwnvN6fPc/s1600/IMG_2894.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O_i5-JfNHFs/UXmiMrNz44I/AAAAAAAAA84/CsIwnvN6fPc/s400/IMG_2894.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I added the "smelly stuff". A plug in warmer & 2 refills. Steve loves a candle, so even though I know he won't be able to light it I couldn't resist putting in the tiny candle. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRCA8Ae-fV0/UXmjFyhhL3I/AAAAAAAAA9E/Q1VwlWep7BE/s1600/IMG_2895.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SRCA8Ae-fV0/UXmjFyhhL3I/AAAAAAAAA9E/Q1VwlWep7BE/s400/IMG_2895.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course I had to include a few rewards for chores well done;) I put in the most recent issue of his gaming magazine, some k-cups for his office, a DVD he requested, and an adorable pair of yellow submarine boxers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2mv7BG_lQo/UXmjG40HCsI/AAAAAAAAA9Q/hTLK4WcEHeU/s1600/IMG_2896.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k2mv7BG_lQo/UXmjG40HCsI/AAAAAAAAA9Q/hTLK4WcEHeU/s400/IMG_2896.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I threw in some notes from the kiddos, and a recent picture of them:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oi3rHyKBB7k/UXml5tXKgwI/AAAAAAAAA9s/VEGQgPY23QA/s1600/IMG_2897.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oi3rHyKBB7k/UXml5tXKgwI/AAAAAAAAA9s/VEGQgPY23QA/s400/IMG_2897.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the finished box, packed up, ready to tape up, and ship out:)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M5cTHnusi8U/UXmtI8FlrKI/AAAAAAAAA98/iB5MrHY4eK0/s1600/IMG_2898.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M5cTHnusi8U/UXmtI8FlrKI/AAAAAAAAA98/iB5MrHY4eK0/s400/IMG_2898.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hope he gets a little smile from it. </div>

I have actually done a few muffin tins here and there since Gwen has been born. But they either weren't picture/post worthy or I just didn't have the energy to document them:/ I was pretty pleased with today's though and wanted to share. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
WARNING: If you have issues with food dye (especially blue) this is not the post for you!;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h4YIk6MRXy0/UXVyCBsXxaI/AAAAAAAAA8I/8KmHqbDYMEA/s1600/IMG_2849.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-h4YIk6MRXy0/UXVyCBsXxaI/AAAAAAAAA8I/8KmHqbDYMEA/s320/IMG_2849.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I got my inspiration for today's tin from these adorable cupcakes I had seen on Pinterest. I was super brave and even let the kiddos help me assemble & bake these! They turned out really well, and were pretty tasty without icing. However the kids insisted that some of them have "atmosphere" or "clouds", AKA as frosting;)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mPcfPbd_RuA/UXVyCSXdvtI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/UDXTXvfESrs/s1600/IMG_2855.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mPcfPbd_RuA/UXVyCSXdvtI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/UDXTXvfESrs/s320/IMG_2855.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I rounded out the rest of the tin with the following: Reusable cup with Blue Kool-aid, A Turkey Bagel Sandwich with a homemade earth pick, an all natural blueberry & yogurt smoothie pouch, some sliced kiwi with frozen blueberries (my kids prefer them that way!), our little earth cupcakes, and a handful of steamed edamame pods. I offered the kids veggie straws instead of the edamame, but they are addicted to the popping of the soybeans:) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VteX4GEiMr8/UXVyCTsynkI/AAAAAAAAA8g/aB8rlg56z6o/s1600/IMG_2853.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VteX4GEiMr8/UXVyCTsynkI/AAAAAAAAA8g/aB8rlg56z6o/s320/IMG_2853.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Gideyon is always photo bombing my tins!;) The cupcakes look miniature because I serve my guys food in jumbo muffin tins. They are 9 & 10, so a regular muffin portion of most things doesn't cut it anymore.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aOfcvpm-t_M/UXVyCzGJQ3I/AAAAAAAAA8k/Xbys0Y6mIJ0/s1600/IMG_2857.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aOfcvpm-t_M/UXVyCzGJQ3I/AAAAAAAAA8k/Xbys0Y6mIJ0/s320/IMG_2857.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

Baked TacosI am determined to actually post something besides my adorable every growing baby! SO here is my first of what will hopefully be a series "Pinned It, Did It!"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9C0t6Ytxd2k/UWc5bAvF3rI/AAAAAAAAA7s/gnFixlkL1b0/s1600/IMG_2648.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9C0t6Ytxd2k/UWc5bAvF3rI/AAAAAAAAA7s/gnFixlkL1b0/s320/IMG_2648.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I have had this pin on my <a href="http://pinterest.com/srgoodman2/just-say-yum/" target="_blank">"Just Say Yum"</a> Board for forEVVAHHH! But I am glad I waited because my first pin was from "One Good Thing by Jillee", however recently a new version floated across Pinterest from "Mommy I'm Hungry" and that version seemed more up my alley. This is how I made it, modified it, and what I will do different next time:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Baked Tacos</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients:</div>
1 lb Ground Beef<br />
1 Small Onion chopped<br />
1 Packet Taco Seasoning<br />
1/2 Small Can Green Enchilada Sauce<br />
1/2 Can of Refried Beans<br />
10-12 Hard Taco Shells<br />
2 Cups Shredded Cheese of Choice ( I ♥ Sharp Cheddar, but you may prefer Mexican Blend)<br />
Toppings of Your Taste: Lettuce, Tomatoes, Olives, Sour Cream, Guacamole<br />
<br />
Directions: Brown Beef with Chopped Onions. Add your Taco Seasoning, 1/2 can of Enchilada Sauce, and Refried Beans and mix well with Beef. Stand your taco shells in a dish, and then stuff with the meat mixture. Then top each Taco with more shredded cheese than you should;) Place in oven preheated to 425* and heat for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Remove and serve with toppings of your choice!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-utSJQHqSFC8/UWc1VLb6UiI/AAAAAAAAA7U/U3VPa9doqc8/s1600/IMG_2655.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-utSJQHqSFC8/UWc1VLb6UiI/AAAAAAAAA7U/U3VPa9doqc8/s320/IMG_2655.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
They look yummy,huh? Well they were tasty, however as my daughter noted "Mom the shells are soggy":/ So next time I think I will try double heating the shells. I will cook them according to the pkg directions, then fill them and bake again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fBbSvU9Yn50/UWc5Sf81PLI/AAAAAAAAA7o/h-mKO1HOQlI/s1600/IMG_2650.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fBbSvU9Yn50/UWc5Sf81PLI/AAAAAAAAA7o/h-mKO1HOQlI/s320/IMG_2650.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is the pin link for the original recipe from "Mommy I'm Hungry" :<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/69665125458465844/">http://pinterest.com/pin/69665125458465844/</a><br />
You will note that I chose not to make as a big of a batch as she did. I was only feeding myself and a 9 &10 year old. So 10 tacos was plenty with leftovers (Ok not that many leftovers, I may have eaten 2 and then like 2 bites of the leftover one:/) I also have this thing about not putting tomato sauce in my Mexican recipes, it seems more like a Italian cuisine thing. So instead I opted to leave the can of chilies out and use a can of Green Enchilada Sauce that had been hanging out in my pantry for much to long. I thought the end result was a wonderful filling, it had a slight heat from using Green Sauce but not so much that my kids wouldn't eat them. You could add more sauce or beans if you don't mind your filling a bit runny. Overall I am sure my modified version will be making a reappearance on our table!<br />

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I know I say it every month, but I can't believe how fast it goes! This sweet little person, who is developing such a personality has been with us only 5 short months. Yet I can't imagine life without her!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This month had lots of fun stuff in it, and some not so fun sad stuff. Here is the run down....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In your 5th full month of life (Feb 5th-Mar 5th) you:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Your very first solid food of any kind! Baby MumMums. You weren't sure about them at first but quickly decided you like them, and will grunt and let us know if you drop it!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Your first family pictures. Which you were NOT very good for. However you had a really good reason. Once we got home from pics, you got really sick for the first time. It was SO sad, and mommy was really upset about it. You kept vomiting, and were so listless, and then you started to dry heave and I thought my mommy heart would break. Thankfully you were only violently ill for about 6 hours, and then you were able to keep some breastmilk down and seem to mend quickly!</div>

The sad part of this month...Daddy deployed to Afghanistan for the next year. It was so bittersweet to see you up next to his assault pack and realize how much more he must want to take you! We skype with Daddy on the computer as much as possible, and mommy tries to take lots of pictures of all the fun things you are doing since he left, but we all know it is not the same...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

My first attempt to post a video. I really wanted to remember your "growling phase". It only lasted about 2 weeks, but it was SO cute, and everyone loved it:) Sorry if you get sea sick watching, hard to video one handed...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here are so memory worthy photos but not necessarily "firsts" or milestones:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Daddy teaching you to drive. You already think you are big stuff. ( I know she doesn't have a bow on! It almost killed me to post this pic. I am guessing she pulled it off in her carseat:/)</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok here are the stats:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">You are weighing in at 13 lbs 4 oz at home this month</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">You are finally in a size 2 diaper but have plenty of room to grow.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Wearing all 3-6 months clothes now.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Talking, laughing and growling this month!</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Rolling from belly to back mostly but occasionally the opposite direction</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Still a champion nurser, mom is hoping to get you take a bottle occasionally but you won't have anything to do with it:/</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Napping is NOT your thing! You take 3-4 cat naps a day. However most nights you go to bed around 8 and although you nurse in the night, you won't get up for the day till around 8 the next morning.</li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Such a little person now! I know that you will only get to seem like more of one from here on out. My squishy little newborn is just a memory already. You are so fun though that it is a pretty good trade off:)</div>

I figure these are more for me to look back on than anything else...<br />
<br />
Oh my baby! You are just getting to big to fast! I can't believe how much you have changed from the little floppy thing I brought home.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5GvL3ee_uJA/USWjGYKV-ZI/AAAAAAAAAys/uvst0RKdr4g/s1600/IMG_1451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5GvL3ee_uJA/USWjGYKV-ZI/AAAAAAAAAys/uvst0RKdr4g/s320/IMG_1451.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Your 4th full month of life brought very few "milestones", but there was still lots of fun stuff!<br />
<br />
For starters this months photo shoot was the most challenging so far! You wouldn't stay still! You kept falling over, wouldn't keep your hands out of your mouth, and tried to tear your month sticker off your onesie:/ I am surprised I got any decent shots!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
You discovered your hands this month, and every time we look at you they are in your mouth!!!;/<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Gone are the days of your sweet little baby whimper, you now let us know loud and clear when you aren't happy:( You have perfected the pouty lip too, and it is our warning sign that louder things are coming!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You found a new favorite this month...Your wubanub! We call it your "lovey", and you are very happy to hold it, chew it, and just generally love it:) The spoon in the second pic was Mommy's desperate attempt to entertain you for a minute so she could eat:/</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Your siblings are still your favorite thing. You burst into the biggest smile when ever you see either of them, and it makes mommy's heart sing:) They think you are just as great!<br />

So I am hoping to easing myself back into it with this fun idea I came up with for a "Book Report".<br />
<br />
Now my guys are both in 4th grade, and I am not going to sugar coat it...They kinda stink at anything English/Literature related. I also realized they had NO idea what a book report even is (hanging head in shame). So I encouraged them to pick a historical figure of their choice and do a "mini report" on it. My thinking was that I wanted to find out what they read about the book, but at the same time not overwhelm them with a paper book report that they aren't ready for.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I scoured Pinterest for alternatives to book reports and found TONS of fun ideas, and I will be implementing several over the next couple months. However since I had specifically asked the kids to pick a person to read about, I wanted something a little more geared towards a biography. So I kinda meshed a couple ideas together and here is what we ended up with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Biography Boards!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0s7o5y4HYTI/UQ20NoGKCsI/AAAAAAAAAs0/XUPZP9YnK0s/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+069.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0s7o5y4HYTI/UQ20NoGKCsI/AAAAAAAAAs0/XUPZP9YnK0s/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+069.JPG" width="212" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4badcn6mfLY/UQ20QkspjtI/AAAAAAAAAtc/gpOl2cL-cfU/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+074.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4badcn6mfLY/UQ20QkspjtI/AAAAAAAAAtc/gpOl2cL-cfU/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+074.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
These turned out SO cute, and I am happy to report that the kids liked doing them as much as I hoped they would!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4j-45CDCYMc/UQ3G-qetvqI/AAAAAAAAAyA/1KKIyhMrUts/s1600/Biography+Boards2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4j-45CDCYMc/UQ3G-qetvqI/AAAAAAAAAyA/1KKIyhMrUts/s640/Biography+Boards2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Yup, School on the floor. 'Cause that's how we roll around here;)<br />
<br />
Here is the skinny:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Each child was to put the name of their figure at the top of their board.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ls_HRGAqQiI/UQ20CdjdOFI/AAAAAAAAAqk/Ei_iz2dGp2Y/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+048.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ls_HRGAqQiI/UQ20CdjdOFI/AAAAAAAAAqk/Ei_iz2dGp2Y/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+048.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Gillyan picked "Leonardo Da Vinci" and Gideyon's choice was "Benjamin Franklin". Cracked me up how much their choices reflected their own personlity traits.<br />
<br />
<br />
Then we used large index cards (for ease in the case of "redos", and for neater handwriting) to add some facts about that person.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O7BTfigMtyI/UQ20ByVeR7I/AAAAAAAAAqc/mLnuHfjzeFw/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O7BTfigMtyI/UQ20ByVeR7I/AAAAAAAAAqc/mLnuHfjzeFw/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+047.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
The first card on the left contains "Basic Bio", the figure's Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Date of Death, and where the lived/were born. The first card on the right is that child's "Favorite Fact" that they learned while reading their biography.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ownun6Gd9KQ/UQ3FjMOdVyI/AAAAAAAAAx0/ciMklganN7A/s1600/IMG_1306.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ownun6Gd9KQ/UQ3FjMOdVyI/AAAAAAAAAx0/ciMklganN7A/s320/IMG_1306.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The next 3 cards on the left contain "Fun Facts". These were to be facts that most people wouldn't know if they had not read a biography on the character. An example from Gideyon's : "Ben Franklin created some of the earliest versions of batteries". The 3 cards in a row on the right are "Famous Facts". These facts were to be facts that most people know with out reading a biography on the person. Example from Gillyan's:<br />
"Leonardo painted the famous "Mona Lisa"".<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kf52Vt_3j3M/UQ3Fkl0iINI/AAAAAAAAAx8/0oSikq5ZWCI/s1600/IMG_1307.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Kf52Vt_3j3M/UQ3Fkl0iINI/AAAAAAAAAx8/0oSikq5ZWCI/s320/IMG_1307.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Finally we completed the boards with big "Paper Dolls" of their figures, that the kids created on my Cricut! They chose all the colors, clothes, and accessories. I simply helped operate the machine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TQws8iJmBpY/UQ20Lu2dTMI/AAAAAAAAAsU/AziJD7DJzHc/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+065.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TQws8iJmBpY/UQ20Lu2dTMI/AAAAAAAAAsU/AziJD7DJzHc/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+065.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3CmiBXuN2pg/UQ20I8bI4rI/AAAAAAAAArs/9l2uk6d1F0k/s1600/January+2013+Total+Misc+060.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3CmiBXuN2pg/UQ20I8bI4rI/AAAAAAAAArs/9l2uk6d1F0k/s320/January+2013+Total+Misc+060.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Their Dad was super pleased with their effort and they proudly hung them on our dining room wall. Hopefully this will get them excited to "report" on their book reading for the future:)<br />
<br />

</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">So these are a few things we have realized we can't live without in the last month...</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">From top right going clockwise and ending in middle.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">I mentioned in my last post how you can now endure riding in the car thanks to Baby Einstein DVDs! Baby Noah is by far your favorite and produces the most noise from you:)</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">You are NOT a big fan of tummy time, however you do love to lay on your Sassy playmat and eat the red bird in the middle...as long as you are on your back!</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">SWADDLEME!!! I wish I had know about these sooner:( You are a big time arm flinger, and you had trouble settling down unless you were swaddled. However you were quite the swaddle ninja no matter how tight I bundled you! We invested in one of these babies, and OH MY word! You and I both love it. You still poke your hands out from time to time, but you start settling down every night as soon as I wrap you in this. It's kinda like it has magical sleepy powers;) We only own the one but I will be investing in more as soon as we head to Babies R Us again.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">You truly are our Baby Bee:) You broke out soon after you were born, and then developed eczema. I tried all kinds of lotions and bath gel but they all seem to make it worse. I eventually tried Burt's Bees (kind spendy so I had put it off) and you started clearing up within days! We now use the whole line, cause turns out that even other butt creams make your tiny buns break out! </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">And last but not least, the newest member to your faves line up...the BUMBO. We love to see you sit and smile in this thing. In fact it has proved so useful we bought another one so we can have one upstairs and down! You seem like such a tiny "big" girl sitting up in it! See pic below for proof:)</span></li>

I figure it is like weight loss, you just jump back on like you never stopped.<br />
<br />
So here is an update on our newest family member.<br />
<br />
Litte Miss Gwendalyn is 3 whole months old! I know all the moms say it, but honestly it just goes TO fast:(<br />
This is photo dump of her 3rd month and a few stats.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Don't you just want to eat those little toes!</div>
<br />
Here are a few stats. These are mostly for me. I am old and one day this may be the only way to remember this stuff, since finding time to fill in a baby book is laughable...<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>You fit perfectly in 0-3 month clothes this last month:)</li>
<li>You really started to smile and engage people, and even occasionally laugh.</li>
<li>Right before Christmas you started "talking" to us, and now you do it LOTS!!!</li>
<li>You are wearing size 1 pampers still, but I am thinking that won't last much longer.</li>
<li>The playmat on the floor is one of the very few activites you enjoy (you really only like being held!). However tummy time is still a no-go.</li>
<li>You weighed in at 11 pounds and 2 ozs according to our scale at home.</li>
<li>You still nurse fairly often (like every 2 and half hours or so.) Yet you sleep fairly long stretches at night, sometimes going 6 or more hours. Nothing is predictable though...</li>
<li>Your buddy (pacifer) is one of your faves, but you have discovered your hand and like it alot too!</li>
<li>We let you watch Baby Einstein in the van, and now riding in the car is one of your favorite activites;)</li>
</ul>
<div>
Hopefully I will back track and do months 1 & 2 here soon, but no promises...</div>

We are loving every moment of this! Trying to soak it all in. However I don't expect to spend much time on the blog in the next month or so, cause we are also trying to move in the first of November! So bear with me, I promise I will be back and hopefully with lots of fun stuff:)Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-4700337435391330612012-06-21T20:03:00.001-04:002012-06-21T20:03:01.177-04:00Cheapo, Easy Peasy Luggage Tags!Our Family is preparing to take several trips this summer. Unfortunately one of them is by air ( I HATE flying!!!). So in a better effort to be prepared, and not have to fill out those annoying little tags at the airport, I whipped up some Luggage Tags.<br />
<br />
Here are the gathered supplies:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7uRzJp-vBTM/T-OzIDpp28I/AAAAAAAAAlY/t5WQMTb_Njw/s1600/June+2012+022.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7uRzJp-vBTM/T-OzIDpp28I/AAAAAAAAAlY/t5WQMTb_Njw/s320/June+2012+022.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Some scraps of Scrapbook paper, Scotch Laminating Pouches, Card for smoothing, Printable Shipping Labels, Crop-A-Dile, and optional corner rounder punch.<br />
<br />
Now I figure that most people are at Wal-mart enough that have seen these awesome little pouches. But encase you are like me and don't spend enough time perusing the office supply aisle there, here is a close up:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hajKYxnHML0/T-OzMPXZHvI/AAAAAAAAAlg/sjeo18ZLfrQ/s1600/June+2012+023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hajKYxnHML0/T-OzMPXZHvI/AAAAAAAAAlg/sjeo18ZLfrQ/s320/June+2012+023.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
These are less than 2 bucks for a pack of 5, and are self laminating (NO machine required).<br />
<br />
The tags were all made by simply printing off my info on the shipping labels (which had to be cut to size & corner rounded them), and then adhering them to the scraps of paper. I sized my paper 3 1/2 by 2. but you could totally eyeball this part. Then I stuck the paper on the pouch and followed the 2 step directions for sealing it. And VOILA! and cute little tag. I then used my crop-a-dile to punch a hole through all the layers to thread a ribbon for tying. You could try a regular hole punch, but the pouches are pretty thick...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SCU5xGgHTwQ/T-OzEB326BI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/PacLdVASTBI/s1600/June+2012+021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SCU5xGgHTwQ/T-OzEB326BI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/PacLdVASTBI/s320/June+2012+021.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Aren't you jealous of my awesome tech skills that caused me to use a bright orange post-it to safe guard my personal info?!? Alas that is SO not my thing:/<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GtjkRLFbLIs/T-OzAfR6IGI/AAAAAAAAAlI/5rp0wijWL4E/s1600/June+2012+020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GtjkRLFbLIs/T-OzAfR6IGI/AAAAAAAAAlI/5rp0wijWL4E/s320/June+2012+020.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is the trio of them, ready for me and the kiddos to attach to our duffels and go:) Not my best work, but definitely some of my easiest and quickest! These literally took me 10 minutes start to finish:)Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-4548837412325977302012-06-11T22:47:00.000-04:002012-06-21T20:03:30.254-04:00My Van Basket- Or what you need when you constantly run Errands!I am an "On-the-Go" kinda Gal. We are in our vehicle running around town, doing errands at least 5 times a week. So I have learned that a few necessities are in order, so that I am not constantly buying things that I already have at home.<br />
I own a Nissan MiniVan. It has a handy little "table" that sits in between the 2 front coach seats. This is where I keep my little basket of goodies. However I am sure there are plenty of spots in other vehicles to tuck such a thing.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This is what my basket looks like:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RiIDXueZK4Y/T9amfjCKxaI/AAAAAAAAAkM/XFJn5nSxbck/s1600/891.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RiIDXueZK4Y/T9amfjCKxaI/AAAAAAAAAkM/XFJn5nSxbck/s320/891.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
It contains 5 Main Components:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv3CFK39-So/T9amQrCAX-I/AAAAAAAAAjo/J3dnORAR9bg/s1600/887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv3CFK39-So/T9amQrCAX-I/AAAAAAAAAjo/J3dnORAR9bg/s320/887.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
1) The First Aid! The School Size box in the back contains first aid supplies:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uaiHGxFuwvY/T9amnBHoa8I/AAAAAAAAAkc/Vhj2-kOi4YM/s1600/893.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uaiHGxFuwvY/T9amnBHoa8I/AAAAAAAAAkc/Vhj2-kOi4YM/s320/893.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Nothing fancy or expensive here. Everything came from Target or a Walmart, and most is "travel" size. I have Tums, Tylenol (Both Adult & Children's), Dramamine, Benadryl, Single Packets of Sinus Medicine & Advil, Children's Benadryl & Zyrtec Single Serves, Band-aids, Gauze, Alcohol Pads, Hand Sanitizer and Kleenex. Some Odd Ball items are Bug Spray (for impromptu outdoor outings, and Tweezers for Splinters & Ticks). I usually keep a Travel Size Sunscreen in there also, but I had run out and hadn't replaced it at time of photo.<br />
<br />
2) The Fun! The slim green box contains a few items to keep the kiddos entertained for those times we are stuck waiting in the car.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zj3yIHNC-fw/T9amUmbcppI/AAAAAAAAAjw/maaFbxkOxro/s1600/888.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Zj3yIHNC-fw/T9amUmbcppI/AAAAAAAAAjw/maaFbxkOxro/s320/888.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Again nothing special. I got all items except the travel "Whoonu" game at Target. I snagged the Tic Tac Toe at the little dollar spot, The Wooly Willy boards and Stretchy Caterpillar are from Party Supplies, while the Squinkies were actually from my stock pile but of course you could get them in Toys. The Travel Whoonu Game came from a kids meal!<br />
<br />
3) The Food! The tiny clear case contains non-melty snacks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4pFMhmNknUU/T9amYCioyzI/AAAAAAAAAj4/4opy7_OrEcQ/s1600/889.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4pFMhmNknUU/T9amYCioyzI/AAAAAAAAAj4/4opy7_OrEcQ/s320/889.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
We honestly eat in our Van a ton! So I felt no need to stock pile a great deal of snacks. I simply threw in some hard candies & some teeny packs of fruit nuggets. <br />
<br />
4) The Paper Products. What vehicle that regulars shuttles children would be complete without the Kleenex and Wipes!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b2Smgd5rihs/T9amjXdoCJI/AAAAAAAAAkU/Fds33tue88E/s1600/892.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-b2Smgd5rihs/T9amjXdoCJI/AAAAAAAAAkU/Fds33tue88E/s320/892.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My kids are older now, so I just keep a travel pack of wipes for sticky hands. However I have a some what "snot nosed" 9 year old, so I need a full size box of Kleenex!<br />
<br />
5) The Oddities. These are items that we simply cant do without, however I doubt most people would need to add these items to their Vehicle Basket.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t85SqXvP_R8/T9amcqWzTdI/AAAAAAAAAkE/OCNMjETGfd0/s1600/890.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t85SqXvP_R8/T9amcqWzTdI/AAAAAAAAAkE/OCNMjETGfd0/s320/890.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The yellow capped tube is an Epi-pen. I have a severe allergy to shellfish, and while this is never a worry at home, eating out can be more dangerous. So I keep this in my van at all times. The weird black thing is a convertor for our car charging ports. It makes any port in the van (we have 3) compatible with a regular ole cord. So my kids can use their DS chargers or watch our Portable DVD player.<br />
<br />
It all tucks nicely and neatly in my Little Longaberger Lunch Basket!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RiIDXueZK4Y/T9amfjCKxaI/AAAAAAAAAkM/XFJn5nSxbck/s1600/891.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RiIDXueZK4Y/T9amfjCKxaI/AAAAAAAAAkM/XFJn5nSxbck/s320/891.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
So that wraps up my Travel Around Town Basket. Hope you got a good idea or two!Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-65593235722358913572012-06-02T18:06:00.001-04:002012-06-02T18:06:33.881-04:00Tiny Toy Travel TinsMy Gilly has 2 sweet friends that are moving to Germany. She really wanted to make them a gift before they left. However her overly practical mother wanted it to be something they would actually use, and something that their mother wouldn't inwardly groan over. I knew they would be traveling all over the country for the next couple weeks before their flight to Germany, so I figured travel activities would be appropriate. However I also knew that they already had reached their max on stuff they could/would drag around during their travels so it would need to be something small.<br />
<br />
So my first thought was a travel game. But even the smallest travel games aren't truly "tiny". They are more backpack size not purse size. Then I was excited over the idea of paperdolls. But once I had that thought I realized I would at least need to include scissors and a zipper bag for storage, not to mention the fact that once I shopped around for paperdolls I wasn't able to find ANY in town! I would have had to order them online, so I scratched that idea. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
On one of my many trips to Target, Gilly actually found these cute little tins in the dollar spot and begged to get them for her friends.<span id="goog_474054072"></span><span id="goog_474054073"></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djj1-tsFHM0/T8qHhPV510I/AAAAAAAAAi8/fifJEeAz_Oc/s1600/June+2012+009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-djj1-tsFHM0/T8qHhPV510I/AAAAAAAAAi8/fifJEeAz_Oc/s320/June+2012+009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The Sharpie is there for size reference. The tins are a little bigger than an Altoids tin, just exactly the right size to fit a deck of cards. So my new mission became finding things to entertain 2 girls that would fit!<br />
<br />
I started by heading to my local party store where I hit the jackpot. I found tiny packs of game cards (Uno for one of the girls and Old Maid for the other), little bitty Etch-A-Sketch, some stretchy caterpillars. They also sell all kinds of candy by the individual piece so we grabbed a jolly rancher because we happen to know they are one of the girls favorites. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-owz30sipbvg/T8qHrAx7_cI/AAAAAAAAAjU/Q28J29aIGH8/s1600/June+2012+012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-owz30sipbvg/T8qHrAx7_cI/AAAAAAAAAjU/Q28J29aIGH8/s320/June+2012+012.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
When we got home I raided my stash of stuff I keep for Gillyan's "GrabNGo" bag (that is a a post for another day) and found some "party favor" packs of paper dolls. Each doll came with a sheet of reusable stick on clothes. I also had hoarded these fun little packages of Squinkies that came with a little cardboard pop up playset and a little squinkie person. We added an additional squinkie pet with hair just cause we have squinkies come out our eyeballs around here:P<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZ_q5_jNuwE/T8qHoKyGL_I/AAAAAAAAAjM/u_C-iK_E4_I/s1600/June+2012+011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aZ_q5_jNuwE/T8qHoKyGL_I/AAAAAAAAAjM/u_C-iK_E4_I/s320/June+2012+011.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
This rounded our little kit out pretty well and so all that was left was to cram all the goodies in and make sure it all fit! We started with the flat things, the paper dolls and squinkie playset, and then layered the other items on top. It fit beautifully!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cTjDYyNAZ9k/T8qHuLIELTI/AAAAAAAAAjc/G9N-6gC8kWQ/s1600/June+2012+014.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cTjDYyNAZ9k/T8qHuLIELTI/AAAAAAAAAjc/G9N-6gC8kWQ/s320/June+2012+014.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
Gilly was thrilled with the results and wrote a sweet note to her friends on the bottom of each tin with Sharpie. I was pretty thrilled myself but mostly because I have a slight obsession of tiny things that I inherited from my mother;) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wpT2fTfBlrM/T8qHkrLHiQI/AAAAAAAAAjE/wbeS9mJBlxQ/s1600/June+2012+010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wpT2fTfBlrM/T8qHkrLHiQI/AAAAAAAAAjE/wbeS9mJBlxQ/s320/June+2012+010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
The whole little package cost about $5 if you average out the cost of things that came in sets like the paper dolls, caterpillars, and tubes of plastic ballons. The little etch-a-sketch was the most spendy item (around $2 each). Although I did acquire the squinkies at our local PX on clearance so the cost on those is probably not a good "average" either:/ I wasn't complaining though, and I don't think the 2 little recipients will be either:)<br /><br />
<br />Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-90799622667927316012012-05-09T16:59:00.001-04:002012-05-09T16:59:26.930-04:002 minute-10 Dollar Teacher Gifts!So since I homeschool my kiddos, I often let teacher thank you gifts sneak up on me!! But I am truly thankful for the break that I get from the time they do spend away from me, so I want to make sure I give them a little something to let them know that:) This is my guys last week at Awanas, and each kid has 2 teachers and they have one coordinator that I adore! SO I had to come up with something to show my appreciation. I scoured pinterest and some of my favorite blogs and came up with this twist on a couple of ideas. For the 4 lady teachers I went to Old Navy and had the kids each pick 2 pairs of flops (totally guessed at the sizes!). Then we went to Target and picked out coordinating nail polish. Since Gideyon has a guy teacher that he really likes, I asked him what wanted to give Mr. Eric and he said "Candy". So we went to Wal-mart and picked up a fun reusable cup and some skittles. While I was there I saw some really cute beach towels that were only 5 bucks! So we found one to go with each pair of flops, and the cup. When I got home I bundled it all up and tied it up with a plain ole white ribbon. Here is the results:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hm8PVUAZiic/T6rX77ZfijI/AAAAAAAAAiw/KsGGLPkzGlo/s1600/May+2012+046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hm8PVUAZiic/T6rX77ZfijI/AAAAAAAAAiw/KsGGLPkzGlo/s320/May+2012+046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is the break down: Each Ladies Gift had Flops $2 (I had a coupon!), Nail Polish $2.50, and a coordinating Beach Towel $5. So they come in just under 10 Bucks and look fun and summery!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TzGCFCzmgGU/T6rX31_GYeI/AAAAAAAAAio/FDzxfF-2QbI/s1600/May+2012+045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TzGCFCzmgGU/T6rX31_GYeI/AAAAAAAAAio/FDzxfF-2QbI/s320/May+2012+045.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The gift for the Mr. Eric came in just over $10 dollars but was still pretty cute! Cup was $4.50, Towel was $5, and the Skittles were almost $2. Still not to spendy, and lets face it...Someone that has to deal with Gideyon every week should get a nice gift!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-26b7_wexG6s/T6rXz1KxEOI/AAAAAAAAAig/wmZVZ49qPug/s1600/May+2012+044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-26b7_wexG6s/T6rXz1KxEOI/AAAAAAAAAig/wmZVZ49qPug/s320/May+2012+044.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
Sorry I haven't posted much (i.e. AT ALL!) but life has been hectic since finding out that we are expecting our 3rd. Plus we moved in the last month! But I promise to be back soon with a cute travel tin idea, and some car organization tips. <br />Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-48800055143423010722012-02-08T16:21:00.000-05:002012-02-08T16:21:00.567-05:00Hands on Chemistry Fun<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I teach a Chemistry Class at our local Co-op for our 1-3rd graders using the Chemistry book from this <a href="http://www.gravitaspublications.com/elementary" target="_blank">Publisher</a>. It has been SO fun and easy that I thought we would continue the fun at home. I let the kids use the leftover supplies from this mornings lesson on Acids, Bases, and Neutrals to make their own chemical reactions. They LOVED it!!! Want to have some Chemistry fun in your own home? Here is what we used:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fJR8u-hnYPE/TzLlCTKJ-aI/AAAAAAAAAhA/lWeedgMiF7s/s1600/Feb+12+Bentos+%2526+Chemistry+Fun+006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fJR8u-hnYPE/TzLlCTKJ-aI/AAAAAAAAAhA/lWeedgMiF7s/s320/Feb+12+Bentos+%2526+Chemistry+Fun+006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<ul><li>Lemon Juice</li>
<li>Mineral Water</li>
<li>Baking Soda</li>
<li>Distilled Water (THIS is important for making the other mixtures)</li>
<li>Cabbage Juice (Red Cabbage boiled in Distilled Water and Cooled)</li>
<li>Vinegar</li>
<li>Antacid Tablets in Distilled Water</li>
<li>Old Shirts (Cabbage Juice STAINS!)</li>
<li>Clear Disposable Cups (Disposable Optional, Clear is NOT)</li>
</ul> Allow the kids to start by mixing 2 liquids of their choice (About a 1/4 a cup) and then note the reactions. Both the kids and the chemicals:) They will soon figure out that most of the liquids mixed with the base baking soda will fizz when mixed with an acid such as lemon juice or vinegar. They love watching the colors change when adding the cabbage juice to things, which acts as an indicator. SO fun and so educational. Here are a some pics for proof! <br />

So this poor little muffin tin is lacking the usual pizazz.<br />

But I kept hoping that maybe we would get a few flakes to along with it. End of January and in the 70's so I decided I better go ahead and do it before Easter:P<br />
<br />
Nothing to complicated about this one, just fun to look at!<br />

Hoping to be back soon, to share some misc fun from last week!Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-81346243939477268182012-01-25T21:15:00.000-05:002012-01-25T21:15:23.146-05:00Whatever Goes Wednesday-Bento: Yellow StarsI am sure nobody was to sad that I didn't post a muffin tin this Monday. But I thought since I didn't I would post my kiddos Bento from Co-op today. I went with an easy peasy theme: Yellow Stars.<br />
I think I was trying to challenge myself to see if I could make a monochromatic yet nutritious lunch:) Here is what they ended up with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PK_Wbl7nVOs/TyC2Rnj-ItI/AAAAAAAAAgY/qa8lM-KeDU0/s1600/Bento+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PK_Wbl7nVOs/TyC2Rnj-ItI/AAAAAAAAAgY/qa8lM-KeDU0/s320/Bento+003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6T5WwxvpNcU/TyC2OfB7cZI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/wzPHzqV8CVg/s1600/Bento+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6T5WwxvpNcU/TyC2OfB7cZI/AAAAAAAAAgQ/wzPHzqV8CVg/s320/Bento+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I put fresh pineapple chunks in one square, pirate booty in the next, vanilla yogurt with star sprinkles and a tiny appetizer spoon, and lil star shaped sandwiches. I had to stick in a golden oreo, because my guys do NOT consider yogurt dessert:PRobynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-14466436983593120682012-01-16T12:39:00.000-05:002012-01-16T12:39:18.259-05:00Muffin Tin Monday-Appetizer TrayToday's muffin tin should actually be called "Cleaning out the fridge Cups" but I thought Appetizer Tray made it sound more appealing;) Here is what I ended up putting in my kiddos tins:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vwOjIbfoMEc/TxRf-u27ECI/AAAAAAAAAgA/85pVIgbLKHM/s1600/Muffin+Tins+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vwOjIbfoMEc/TxRf-u27ECI/AAAAAAAAAgA/85pVIgbLKHM/s320/Muffin+Tins+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sw9Wd9IKnAE/TxRgBphhhqI/AAAAAAAAAgI/040g3sDj5kI/s1600/Muffin+Tins+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sw9Wd9IKnAE/TxRgBphhhqI/AAAAAAAAAgI/040g3sDj5kI/s320/Muffin+Tins+003.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>They have Herbed Turkey Pinwheels, an Orange Izze, a tiny cheeseball with mini Triscuits, some Marcona Almonds, a baby slice of Red Velvet Cheesecake (Leftover from my Bday) and some Grapes. Pretty sure I could have put liver in the tins today and they would have ate it just so they could have the dessert!:) So not one of my prettier, or more creative tins but tasty nonetheless!Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2105011762547774973.post-14978177103570594072012-01-09T13:05:00.000-05:002012-01-09T13:05:22.097-05:00Muffin Tin Monday-Breakfast BitesI was actually excited to do a more "traditional" muffin tin after all the Christmas tins. So this weeks tin was simple but cute. I went for a "mini" breakfast theme. I have a slight obsession with all things tiny/small/miniature:/<br />
The kids tins looked like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3G2NsfmM0dY/Twsq8LaN0vI/AAAAAAAAAfs/Slhh0QWpDkg/s1600/Muffin+Tins+001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3G2NsfmM0dY/Twsq8LaN0vI/AAAAAAAAAfs/Slhh0QWpDkg/s320/Muffin+Tins+001.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j3YZviTBoUU/Twsq_Hq__oI/AAAAAAAAAf0/6JqAeSE7VuQ/s1600/Muffin+Tins+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j3YZviTBoUU/Twsq_Hq__oI/AAAAAAAAAf0/6JqAeSE7VuQ/s320/Muffin+Tins+002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>They contained from top left to bottom right: Mini Pancakes, container of syrup, Chocolate Milk, small thing of yogurt, mandarin oranges, and baby sausage links. The utensils were a tiny spoon & pick meant for appetizers. The kids gobbled these down, and needless to say I had to refill more than one cup;) Linking to <a href="http://michellesjournalcorner.blogspot.com/2012/01/muffin-tin-monday_09.html" target="_blank">Muffin Tin Monday</a>Robynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11035081420220097084noreply@blogger.com3
